Meet the Artist: 许双军 (Xu Shuangjun)
About the Artist: Xu Shuangjun, a contemporary ceramic artist hailed as a "creative design genius" and holding the title of Senior Craft Artist, serves as the Director of the Yixing GuLongYao Purple Clay Ceramic Art Factory in Yixing. Born in 1962 in Qianshu Village, Yixing, with a family legacy in pottery as his grandfather owned the Qianshu Dragon Kiln.
Artistic Journey: In the years 1980-1983, Xu Shuangjun studied under the disciple Tan Yu Fen, following the teachings of Master Pei Shimin. He also had the privilege of receiving guidance from Master Jiang Rong. Subsequently, he established an art gallery and took over as the head of the Yixing GuLongYao Purple Clay Ceramic Art Factory.
Design Philosophy: In his design and creative process, Xu Shuangjun embraces a fusion of tradition and innovation. His works capture the essence of antiquity without being confined by it. His creations, characterized by a blend of poetry, calligraphy, painting, and sculpting, redefine the realm of teapot art. Sculpture and teapot converge seamlessly as he draws inspiration from nature, carving a distinctive niche in the world of ceramic art.
Legacy and Recognition: With over three decades in the industry, Xu Shuangjun has produced a multitude of artworks, gaining renown for their uniqueness, peculiarity, innovation, and precision. Collected by enthusiasts nationwide, his pieces have garnered multiple awards in national competitions. Representative works include "供春九龙提梁" (Nine Dragons Supporting the Spring), "牛盖石瓢" (Stone Ladle with Ox Lid), and "大团圆" (Grand Reunion).
